Radar – Custom Location Option

The WeatherUnderground Radar page has been updated to allow users to select a custom location. The custom location is the cross-hair shown on the local radar pages. Your own custom text is also added at the bottom of the radar image.

Find the latitude and longitude of your location from Geocoder.us. Enter these values in for latitude and longitude on the form at the bottom of the radar page. Also enter your text for your custom location. Alternately you could use your GPS enabled phone or other GPS enabled device to find your location’s coordinates. Click the select button.

The up/down image icon at the far right of the bottom form allows you to show or hide the custom location page.

How it works: The WeatherUnderground radar page allows for a custom location and our page basically stores this location on your computer. The coordinates are generally locked to the PHL radar site and the form will not allow invalid coordinates. If you select coordinates outside of Berks County your location may not show on the fully zoomed in Berks County radar. It is still there but you have to move out to the KDIX zoom level. The cross-hair may also show up on the Dover or State College radar sites. It will not show on the Regional or US zoom levels nor will it show on the NWS radar option.

Requirements: The page requires cookies to be turned on in order to store your custom information. Javascript must also be enabled as this page uses jscript and ajax. Chipperdog.com supports all standards compliant browsers and most of these allow cookies and javascript by default. The page has been tested on Firefox 3.6 and IE 7/8. Some versions of IE6 may not work with this page.
